Weave Magazine is OPEN to all submissions.
- Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, but we ask that you PLEASE inform us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. Please see our withdrawal guidelines below.
- Please submit only ONCE per reading period, unless the editors request otherwise.
- Former Contributors are asked to wait at least two issues before resubmitting.
- Please send a BRIEF bio of 50 words or less.
- Typical response time is 4-6 months. Query after 6 months to weavezine@gmail.com.
- No previously published work please.
- NO multiple submissions. Please only submit in ONE category per reading period (for example, you may only submit in Fiction OR Flash, but not both).
- We try to respond to all submissions from one reading period before we open for the next, but sometimes this is not possible. Please do not submit again until you've gotten a response on the first submission (still only submit once per reading period as well).
WITHDRAWAL GUIDELINES
- For submissions with ONE piece total: please withdraw on Submismash. You may resubmit one new piece of fiction/nonfiction/drama.
- For submissions with MULTIPLE pieces: please withdraw on Submishmash and in the "reason for withdrawal" section, please indicate if it is a partial or full withdrawal. For partial withdrawals, indicate which poem/flash/photograph/etc. is no longer available. Do NOT email us about this withdrawal.
- If you must withdraw a new piece from a partially withdrawn submission, please email us and we will update your submission.

Please follow the guidelines for the genre in which you are submitting! Submit to any genre category, just indicate the submissions's genre in your cover letter. Your submissions will be recategorized into a specific genre category afterward in our system.
You must include your name and a United States* mailing address with your submission in order to receive your issue.
*Due to the high cost of international shipping, we no longer offer this option to submitters outside of the US. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Poetry
* Submit 3-5 poems in ONE SINGLE DOCUMENT. Do NOT submit multiple times with individual poems.
* There is no official line limit to poetry, but we generally prefer shorter verse.
Fiction
Size limit: 3000 words
* Unsolicited submissions should be no longer than 3000 words
* No genre fiction please
Flash Fiction
Size limit: 1000 words
* Submit up to 3 pieces of flash fiction; each piece may be 1000 words or less.
* Submit in ONE SINGLE ATTACHMENT.
* Anything larger is considered fiction, and therefore you may only submit one piece.
Nonfiction
Size limit: 3000 words
* Unsolicited submissions should be no longer than 3000 words
A Note About Creative Nonfiction Submissions: Weave Magazine accepts works of creative nonfiction from both emerging and established writers who strike a careful balance between the truth as it happened and the truth as the author has come to see it through the writing process. In other words, to simply tell a story that is “true” is not enough. The best creative nonfiction will demonstrate a close and methodical exploration of a subject and streamline that exploration through a rich, scenic narrative. Childhood memories, ended relationships, the birth of a child, the funeral of a dog, a trip abroad—quite literally any life experience can be turned into narrative. But the challenge—and reward—of writing creative nonfiction is in the “figuring out” of what it means in terms both personal and universal. In terms of content, Weave is looking for strong voices from diverse cultural backgrounds; however, the quality of work is our top priority when considering submissions.
